Hey, everyone – sorry I left y’all hanging last Wednesday…I was at the beach! Scott and I traveled to Pensacola for our 2nd beach week EVER, and it was such a blessing. Sunny skies, temps in the 80s, beautiful, white sand and warm water with such gorgeous colors, and a cute house two blocks from our favorite beach. Such a great week! Now I am sitting in my office, looking at the calendar and realizing that here at Salem our kids are out of school, our seniors have graduated, our college students are home for the summer, and there are some big church outreach opportunities coming up. Time goes by so fast!
If you’re a member here or a regular attender, I hope you are planning to stay involved over the summer. There are plenty of opportunities to serve, events to invite friends/family/neighbors to, and perhaps a little extra time to connect with your church family in a more relaxed way. Evenings and weekends will be a little less busy without school, Awana, Trail Life and American Heritage Girls, and there will be time for BBQs, trips to the beach or water park, movie nights and church activities. Centershot starts June 3rd! This is an archery program for the whole community, ages 5 to whatever, that brings people together and points them to Jesus. Get more info and sign up online on our website (salembaptist.org).
Baptism at Pitts’ Pond – June 7 – Come at 2 p.m. for swimming and water fun (water is dark, so please, please watch your kiddos!), a potluck supper at 5 p.m. (bring a side or a dessert to share) and baptism at 6 p.m. If you want to talk about baptism, contact Pastor Doug at dougduty@salembaptist.org.
Patriot Sunday at Salem – June 28 – After regularly scheduled Bible study classes our whole church will celebrate 250 years of faith and freedom in America with a special worship service. There will be lots of music, recognition of our servicemen and women and 1st Responders, and a challenging message from Pastor Doug. Commemorative t-shirts have been ordered and will be available after church every Sunday in June while supplies last. ($10 each, regardless of size)
Vacation Bible School is July 13-17! This year kids and volunteers will take a trip around the Emerald Isle as they dive into Psalm 23. Find a poster at church and use the QR code to register your kids or go to salembaptist.org and register online. Don’t miss it!
